The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 1995年的共和党家庭如果看了这个电影，肯定不让小孩买巴斯光年。因为巴斯光年支持LGBT啊，虽然这点百合戏份微不足道。人设扁平，剧情工整程式化又相当无趣，就是在不停犯错拖时间。Sox的配音真让人抽搐，能不能别让老汉扮萌宠，听着起鸡皮疙瘩。

女同父母的设计非常有冒险精神，不过对于一直致力于“公主女权”的迪士尼，也很正常
美队的声音好好听！电影的立意很好诶，人生最重要的是活着，活在当下，而不是执行一个个任务，tick one after another box
直叙扎实，大战稍弱，结尾仓促，好在各种巧妙的故事编排。

是一部皮克电影，但绝对不是安迪当年看的那部，敢问哪个小孩看完想买这个“全世界最酷的玩具”

低幼向得索然无味，不愧是安迪最喜欢的电影，就跟迪士尼乐园里的拯救巴斯光年一样落伍。
制作格外精良，能以中等科幻片的水准来看，同性情节也相当感人，说是推动整个故事最为举足轻重的环节也不为过，但剧本基本是皮克斯最次的一批了，乏善可陈的冒险片，煽情都有些尴尬，而且吃书严重，让粉丝期望落差，如果不是就这样还要在恬不知耻地在片头打上“这是安迪最爱的电影”的话，说不定我还真的会再多给颗星的。
对皮克斯要求太高，所以只能算是平平吧，可能也是对玩具总动员没啥情怀吧。

还行吧，但是如果是挂着皮克斯的招牌那就还差的太多，但是还能要求什么呢，都已经物是人非了

其实观感不错，但对于皮克斯来说，如此规矩的作业是不够的，哪里都差一口气，有数次机会可以提升格局和更加深情，然而都没有，既然选择继续榨经典IP，又没榨足，尴尬。最好玩的还是机器猫，笑点算是琢磨透了。
只有那只机器猫好可爱。
『 5.0 前半部分可以说非常好看，但反派出来逻辑直接消失了，为所欲为（巴斯随便在宇宙飞来飞去，甚至还能超人式降落）迪士尼真的是打着皮克斯旗号招摇撞骗，顺便因为这么三秒的镜头（那段有点飞屋的感觉）让整部不能上映 』
