The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 原本以为是一部低幼的给小盆友看的童话电影，谁知道完全是给大人的童话电影，太多的梗了，偷拿长辈钱的愧疚，跟父母在一起再苦也是甜的温馨心情，以及为人母之后看到娃拉起拖杆箱真的离开自己的那种不舍，爱与被爱的传承，人与自然的自然交融，特别特别受触动，推荐大家带娃去看，记得带纸巾哦
很喜欢糖水铺那一部分，如果是粤语就更好了，广东的社区老店铺街坊喜欢用“帮衬”这个词，剧情可以说是体现了帮衬这一词的含义
表达的中心思想是好的，也着重了男主的心里历程de刻画。但是确定也非常明显，几乎从一地鸡毛到男主觉得自己被爱包围的绝大部分都是靠着男主自己的作死来提现的。戏剧确实戏剧，但不觉得温馨和好笑，特别是还有磕药的场景。

將動畫電影單一地理解為一種兒童文類，是中國的動畫創作者時常身陷的一種窠臼。認為兒童“適合”觀看動畫作品的理由之一是，動畫形式比之真人電影更可能呈現一個真善美的、理想化的世界，但就這一國內首部原創繪本動畫短片集中的作品而言，凡是秉持此種思路來創作的，帶來的觀感也最差，例如〈小火車〉對心懷希望勇敢站起來的地震致殘兒童、〈翼娃子的星期天〉對每日淩晨五點隨父母出門打工仍樂此不疲的小學生的敘述，堪稱陳腐之至。〈糖水鋪〉和〈藍色鐵皮櫃輪椅〉是令人驚喜的短片，正因為它們並沒有試圖對現實生活的殘酷方面加以美化，而是把實際景况真誠地展示了出來。一位老友的短評自述，她四歲的女兒通過觀看〈輪椅〉首次開始思考“去世”是什麼意思、意味著什麼。大人們不應自作聰明地低估兒童對於影像和現實情境的接受能力。220118於金逸達鏢。

题材也不错。
剧情不断反转，是一部不错的喜剧，整体节奏轻松愉快，但……我却看哭了。

看到哥哥亲吻了男主，觉得这么抓马么，后面三个人在女主家跟妈妈对谈的那段戏也很精彩，同时也赞叹国外高中生活真的这么开放么。最后看到两位父亲还是分开了，有了自己的生活，男主不定期的去双方家里住，但现实生活中离婚了，应该就不再往来了，即使偶尔去见另一位家长，内心应该也没有剧里这么平静吧。这种时候，会非常感谢父母能把婚姻坚持下去，虽然一地鸡毛，但没有选择放手，虽然我没有勇气去踏入婚姻。
价值：《向着明亮那方》传递的是中国情感，又是创作者希望世界可以看到历史可以留下的中国情感，希望在双减之年，本片可以成为孩子们和家长们一生珍藏的影集。

没想到在一部儿童绘本动画里看到了更真实的中国
每个小短片的画风都很可爱 独立动画 看得出来用心 萤火虫的氛围很美 意外的喜欢外婆那篇故事
整体还不错。我觉得婚姻的话，要分类讨论，有的时候是两个人的错，有的时候是一个人的错。有的时候是两个人的问题有的时候是一个人的问题。我觉得电影里面两个人都存在问题（婚姻是需要维系的。一旦似乎就会有漏洞。)，但只有出轨的那一个人错了。已经出轨两年了。没有感觉了，可以说。然后就可以再见。(如果是我的话，跟我说我是可以接受，但是你骗我，而且还骗了两年，我是不可以接受的。)
尽管平时表现得很开放，能接受各种各样的恋爱关系，但看到出轨的时候心里还是很难过，甚至在想自己遇到这种情况会不会崩溃。平时总是觉得爱不可能永远维系下去，这个情况在同志群体尤甚，没有了孩子的束缚，关系更加自由，牵绊也没那么多。有一幕镜头是另一个人和他出轨的对象躺在床上，而保罗则是一个人抱着被子躺在床上。那一幕看得我好痛苦，我把自己代入了保罗这个角色：因为男人出轨被迫孤苦伶仃的victim。我觉得在我过去的关系中，我总是处于一个讨好对方、愿意为爱放弃一切甚至是自我的状态。我真的很讨厌自己这样的行为，但为了能够得到为数不多的愿意给予我回应的白人的关注，我会做很多感动自己的事情去迎合他，尽管对方只是把我当作一个cheap asian ho。希望自己接下去可以改变吧，希望自己慢慢接纳自己，爱人先爱己。
